Here is most of Lovecraft's summary of The King in Yellow: This led me to skimming through Lovecraft's essay about Supernatural Horror in Literature, because I know this essay is like a guide for many Lovecraft fans, including myself when I was younger, and resulted in many unique works of literature being labeled as "Lovecraftian" or "cosmic horror." It focuses much more on human personalities, romances, dramas, psychological horror, and even lots of surrealism, while the "cosmic" elements are extremely brief. This brought me to wonder why so many Lovecraft fans, even a few friends of mine, called The King in Yellow an example of "Lovecraftian" fiction, even though the book has very little in common with Lovecraft.
